COL Carl W. Hunt, Ph.D.
COL Carl Hunt, US Army, is the J-9, Director of
Technology and Analysis for the United States Strategic Command’s
Joint Task Force - Global Network Operations, Arlington, VA. His
responsibilities include overseeing the assessment, coordination and
implementation of computer network defense and analysis capabilities
for DoD computer networks.
COL Hunt has served over 25 years in the Army
both as a military policeman and as an information systems
technology officer. His most recent assignment prior to the JTF-GNO
was as the commander of the US Army Criminal Investigation Command’s
Computer Crime Investigative Unit. As an Army Information Systems
Technology Officer, he has developed and managed several advanced
technology projects, including joint collaborative high-speed
communications efforts representing United States Army Military
Intelligence within the national intelligence community. He is also
the principle author of the Net Force Maneuver proposal that seeks
community collaboration on new ways to operate and defend the Global
Information Grid.
COL Hunt holds the Ph.D. in Information
Technology from George Mason University and is a graduate of the
United States National War College.
COL Hunt has published numerous papers and
articles about computer network defense and agent-based modeling and
simulation as enhancements to intelligence collection and assessment
as well as information assurance within the Department of Defense.
