Vice Dean for Education
Colonel George B. Forsythe
Colonel George B. Forsythe was born at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas
and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1970. He
was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Infantry and awarded a
Bachelor of Science degree.
Colonel Forsythe holds an M.A.C.T. degree in Social Psychology
and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. Colonel Forsythe assumed his duties as the Vice Dean
for Education in June 1996. Prior to his appointment, he served at
the U. S. Military Academy as an instructor, assistant professor,
permanent associate professor, and Professor of Psychology and
Leadership in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership.
Colonel Forsythe also served as the Director, Center for Leadership
and Organizations Research and as the Associate Dean for Academic
Affairs. In addition to his academic leadership responsibilities,
Colonel Forsythe teaches courses in leadership, education, and human
development.
Colonel Forsythe’s scholarly work includes articles on competence
assessment, military education, and leader development published in
a variety of academic and professional outlets. His current research
interests involve leadership education, training, development, and
assessment.
